精油知識 101 (六)：精油與聖經


聖經載有超過 200 段有關香料 (aromatics)、薰香 (incense) 和藥膏 (ointments) 的描述。一些香料，例如乳香 (frankincense)、沒藥 (myrrh)、白松香 (galbanum)、肉桂 (cinnamon)、玉桂 (cassia)、迷迭香 (rosemary)、牛膝草 (hyssop) 和 穗甘松 (spikenard)，會用來塗抹在身體和治療病人。

在「出埃及記」(Exodus) 中，上帝將下列配方賜予摩西，製作聖膏油 (holy anointing oil)：

  • 沒藥 (Myrrh)

  • 肉桂 (Cinnamon)

  • 菖蒲 (Calamus)

  • 玉桂 (Cassia)

  • 橄欖油 (Olive Oil)

聖經中描述亞倫 (Aaron) 奉獻敬香阻止了一場瘟疫 (plague) 的故事：


「民數記」(Numbers) 第 16 章：46-50 節 記錄了摩西 (Moses) 指引亞倫 (Aaron) 拿來香爐 (censer)，燃燒煤 (coal) 和薰香 (incense)，然後「快快帶到會眾那裏、為他們贖罪、因為有憤怒從耶和華那裏出來、瘟疫已經發作了」("go quickly into the congregation to make an atonement for them: for there is a wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun")。聖經記錄了亞倫站在活人和死人之間 (stood between the dead and the living)，然後瘟疫便停止了 (the plague was stayed)。根據聖經和塔木德經 (Talmudic) 的薰香配方，配方包括了三種肉桂。肉桂 (Cinnamon) 具有強效抗微生物 (antimicrobial)、抗感染 (anti-infectious) 和抗菌 (antibacterial) 的能力。


新約 (The New Testament) 中也記載了智者 (wisemen) 向年幼的耶穌奉獻乳香 (frankincense) 和沒藥 (myrrh) 的故事。「馬可福音」(Mark) 第 14 章：3 節 也記載了耶穌被塗抹香膏，當中提到另一種珍貴的香料，穗甘松 (spikenard)。


牛膝草 (Hyssop) & 雪松 (Cedarwood)： 利未記 (Leviticus) 第14章第49節 -“他要拿兩隻鳥、香柏木、朱紅色線和牛膝草來潔淨房子。”(And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop) 肉桂 (Cinnamon), 沒藥 (Myrrh) 和蘆薈 (Aloes)：箴言 (Proverbs ) 第7章第 17節 -“我用沒藥、沉香和肉桂香了我的床。” (I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon) 穗甘松 (Spikenard)：約翰福音 (John) 第12 章第 3 節 -“然後，馬利亞拿一磅非常昂貴的甘松香膏抹耶穌的腳，用她的頭髮擦他的腳，屋子裡就充滿了香膏的氣味。”(Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.)
