Cold Process vs Hot Process... which Suits My Skin More?

You may have noticed that in our Naturalice Garden's list of natural skincare products, there are products marked "Cold Process" / "Hot Process". More diligent friends might have already noticed that in summer or in humid climates, we generally recommend "Cold process products" whilst in winter or in dry climates, we recommend "Hot process products". So, some of you might already have a concept in distinguishing the main differences of these two "processes" and their applications~

Today, let me briefly introduce the difference between the two. And I will also let you know why I kept saying in our workshops that it would be better to participate in hot process workshops after one has already got hold of the cold process techniques (about two to three sessions of cold process cream making experience)~

No heating is required in the process of the cold process technique, and the process is relatively simple. For us, Naturalice Garden, we will use cold-processed emulsified powder derived from natural ingredients, 100% imported hydrosol as the base (instead of pure water or distilled water), and add imported raw materials utilising their specific skin care functions, and 100% high grade therapeutic essential oil, every ingredient we add is used to enhance the efficacy of our cold processed natural skincare products. The process of the hot process technique is more complicated, because we need to muse solid oil and the emulsifier by heating in a water bath, the time and temperature must be mastered properly. The raw materials used in our Naturalice Garden's hot process natural skincare products are mainly imported butters and wax, such as olive emulsified wax and shea butter, which provide a protective film for dry skin with their moisturizing properties. Imported hydrosol is used as the base (instead of pure water or distilled water), imported raw materials with specific skin care effects, and high grade therapeutic essential oil are added to achieve the skin care benefits of moisturizing textures.
Cold Process Skincare Products vs Hot Process: how to choose the right one for you?

First of all: what is cold process and what is hot process?

There are two main ways in making natural skin care products, especially face creams, cold process and hot process.

What is the difference between cold and hot creams?

Generally, the texture of cold processed natural skincare products is not too sticky, and it is relatively refreshing and watery to use. It is suitable for medium-oily skin or humid weather in summer. Our best-selling (cold) natural skin care products are those below, you may wish to find out more from our shop:

The texture of hot processed natural skincare products is thicker and denser, and is more moisturizing. It is suitable for dry and mature skin, or dry weather in winter. Our best-selling (hot) natural skincare products this winter are the below:

In particular, body lotion and ointment are all hot processed products. We recommend the "extra moisturizing hand cream" series that are loved by all with dry hands and the "All Purpose Blue Ointment" that men and dry feet prefer:

Cold process is too thin, hot process is too moist, are there any other options?

Yes, we know that there are times, climates, age groups, preference and there's somewhere in between. Therefore, Naturalice Garden has launched a moisturizing and non-sticky cream that is suitable for those with dry skin, but will feel uncomfortable when use products with butters and waxes. We also use same technique to enhance our "Dark Circles Eye Cream" ! We do all for only one purpose, with a wish to give you more choices:
